I want to be able to have different sounds play based on what the bullet is collidiing with.

Currently, I add a new event sounds script for each type of collision.

bullet hit wall

bullet hit player

etc and this works well, although I am not sure if this is the correct way to handle this scenario?

Also, I have a sound for when the bullet hits a trigger in its own event sounds script.

The console shows that the event fires and cues the sound but I never hear it.

Any idea why I dont hear it?

I was able to succesfully test it from the Master Audio Script and click on the volume icon which plays the clip and I hear it then.
But for some reason during the game the audio clip is not played/heard.

It sounds like you have it set up correctly. You do need a separate EventSounds component for each layer or tag type that will play a different sound. If you're not hearing the sound, most likely the sounds are too far away from the Audio Listener component. By default the Audio Listener is on the main camera. You can set the sounds to 2D, which gets around this problem, or you can move the Audio Listener to a different location, or you can adjust the 3d sound settings of the Audio Source in each Variation.

If you will need to adjust the Audio Source 3d sound settings, then you should probably adjust the "template" for these, which is in Assets/MasterAudio/Sources/SoundGroupVariation.prefab. If so, go there and adjust the 3d properties in the Audio Source. This will only be used when you create new Sound Groups and Variations, so if you go this route, you may want to delete your existing Sound Groups and recreate them to get the templated 3d settings without having to tweak them one by one.

You hear it with the preview button because it uses a different Audio Source which has different 3d settings (better for previewing).

If you wish to have your sounds be 2D, you will need to click on each Audio Clip file and turn off the 3D checkbox and hit Apply. 3D is the default. Or use our Master Audio Clip Manager window to do it in bulk.
