That assumption is incorrect. Killable script getting updated will not change the metadata. I'm not sure, we have not had this happen and I upgrade Killable in our games all the time.
It's possible that your LevelSettings prefab is getting changed and deleting global waves (if you're using them?). Click on your LevelSettings prefab and see if there's the row of 3 prefab buttons at the top (select, revert, apply). If there is, click select and see where that prefab is. If it's in the Core GameKit plugin folder then that's you're problem and it will get updated every time you update the plugin. Then if the game is over (because zero global waves), the default is that Killables won't interact (take or give damage), although there's a dropdown to change that on the Killable called Game Over Behavior (use behave as normal). Also, you should try checking the Log Events checkbox and see if the console tells you anything useful.
