Hi,
The event sounds is not working. I have is set up to play a sound OnEnable. The event sounds is attached to a deactivated object the is enabled during the game. When the object is enabled nothing happens. I'm using the latest version of MA and am running it on Unity 2019.4.23f1. Attachments:

Turn on "Log Sounds" in Advanced Settings under Master Audio Game Object and see what is logged. It will explain what happens along the way. Do you see the LED strip on the Master Audio Mixer light up? If so, it is being played and you just can't hear it. Which is usually due to being played too far away from the Audio Listener.

I turned on log sounds. It says "T: 9.943582 - MasterAudio: Cueing only child of ChestOpening", when the trigger is entered but I still don't hear a sound. If I set audio source to play on awake I can hear the sound. I have set the max distance template to 10. I don't see anything in the Master Audio mixer other that my background music.

So it is playing, but it's too far away and you hear nothing. Either change to 2D if you don't need 3D sound (Spatial Blend dropdown), or choose a larger Audio Source Template and apply it - that control is on the Master Audio Mixer. There are 7 or so distances to use.
