Hi I have a global wave spawning enemies. Is there a built in method to despawn them after a set time interval? Secondly I'm having issue trying to subscribe to wave start events. I can see an option to fire custom event on wave completion but not on start?

There's an option in Killable under Despawn & Despawn trigger called Use Death Timer. You can use that. Or if you don't use Killable, use Timed Despawner component.
You don't subscribe to events in CGK. You use Listener classes. The LevelSettingsListener has a WaveStarted method you can add code to, or use the Playmaker version of it. Consult the online documentation for how to use Listeners, it's easy.
